Apprentices show entrepreneurial spirit

Two former apprentices from Connah's Quay's Coleg Cambria have manufactured their own success, securing contracts with Audi and Honda. The co-founders of engineering company Precise Device, James Thomas and Holly Evans, first met as apprentices on an engineering course provided by Coleg Cambria, formerly Deeside College. After honing their skills in the college workshop, and at placements in Airbus, they went on to established their own company. Precise Device manufactures switches, made from special piezoelectric materials, that optimises fuel regulation is car engines. This is a welcome innovation for the car industry, following the emissions cheating scandals of Volkswagen and others. As is common in companies that invest in research and development, Precise Device's innovations have caught the eyes of Audi and Honda.
